Parent Teacher Organization (PTO)
Dear Gilbert Arts Families,
It was wonderful to meet most of you on orientation night. We thank you for supporting our school through GAA PTO. What is PTO? The Parent Teacher Organization is a group of parents and teachers that volunteer to communicate with your children’s teachers and school leader to offer family fun events like Ice cream social, Parent’s Night Out, Pinewood Derby, Spring Fling, teacher appreciation gifts and purchases for the classroom and campus. We do all this through various fundraisers. Some fundraisers are passive like the Fry’s Grocery Store Community Rewards-last year we earned $213.34 with just a few families participating. Box Tops earn us 10 cents each, which last year added up to over $400. Papa John’s, Dine Out nights at Fat Cats, Panda Express and others, Fall Festival, Parent’s Night Out and Scholastic Book Fair are also event fundraisers-last year earning over $1,579.00. Scholastic Book Fairs earn money for books that go directly to the school library and classrooms. We try our best to limit active fundraisers where we are asking kids and parents to sell things. Please refer to the attached flyers for more detailed information on these fundraisers.
This year’s PTO officers are: Carol Jamison-President, Katy Hanchett-Secretary, Tyson Jamison – Treasurer, Members at large- Kate Aiton, Mona Brundige, Kristin Davis, Marina Hammersmith, Kindra Ochoa and Jessica Paulson.
Along with our ongoing classroom donations, teacher support, and hosting fun events, potential goals this year are also include campus improvement projects. If possible, we would like to provide more shade to the pick-up waiting area for the kids, provide more benches and picnic tables along with repairs and extensions to the current patio covering. We are also hoping to bring in quest speaker(s) for parents to learn about strategies to deal with current issues like social media safety and awareness, substance abuse in kids, and teen suicide.

Additionally, many of our parent volunteers have worked tirelessly on different projects including campus projects, lunch recess, running copies, leveling books for the AR program and so much more! Our parent volunteers are truly appreciated and are an integral part of the team at GAA. We're always looking for more volunteers to help.
