Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What is the cost of tuition?
Gilbert Arts Academy is a public charter school for grades K-8 and there is no cost for tuition in those grades. The Four-Year-Old Kindergarten Readiness Program is not funded by the State of Arizona and is a private pay program.
Are your teachers certified?
All of our teachers are certified by the state of Arizona, possess a minimum of a bachelor's degree (several hold master's degrees) and are designated Appropriately Qualified by the federal guidelines of the No Child Left Behind Act.
Are you an accredited school?
Yes! Gilbert Arts Academy received it's accreditation from AdvancEd, that is nationally recognized.
Do you offer tutoring outside of school hours?
Yes we do. Teachers offer tutoring after school.
Are you a uniformed school?
Yes our students wear a uniform. Pants, shorts or skirts are khaki or black and shirts are solid color red, black or light gray polos.
Is there a library at Gilbert Arts Academy?
Yes our PTO worked very hard to develop and organize our brand new library which was officially opened by the Mayor of Gilbert in October, 2010.
Do the students use computers at school?
Gilbert Arts Academy has a fully equipped computer lab and 7 Chromebook carts.
Do you have a pre-school on your campus?
We have a premier Kindergarten Readiness Program for four-year-olds, preparing them for a wonderful kindergarten experience.
Is your school strictly academics?
While we are proud of our strong academic core, we also integrate music, drama, art and physical education into the program to ensure we expose our students to culture, healthy living and deliver a well-rounded education.
Do you provide before and after-school care at the school?
Before and after school care is available every school day from 6:30 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. (with school in the middle).
Do you offer any extra-curricular activities?
Our Mustang Club offers a variety of activities after school including arts and crafts, science, sports, dance, karate, yoga and more.
Do your students take an active role in the community?
Yes indeed! Through community service, students this year have donated to the American Heart Association, collected for the local food bank, collected items for several disaster relief funds. Our students have also been visiting the nearby senior center for reading, music and drama.
Does Gilbert Arts Academy have a school lunch program?
Our school participates in the National School Lunch Program and hot meals are catered in for students who order from the lunch menu.
How can parents get involved in their child's education?
Gilbert Arts Academy has an active Parent Teacher Organization that regularly contributes to and participates in school projects and needs. All parents are encouraged to join the PTO. Parents who wish to volunteer at the school on a regular basis and/or classroom level are encouraged to contact our PTO at GAAPTO@gmail.com or Ms. Arnold at Lauren.Arnold@leonagroup.com
