Gilbert, AZ - Gilbert Arts Academy was chosen to participate in the first ever STEM (Science, Technology, Math and Engineering) Schools Community of Practice. The GAA team will participate in 4 professional learning community meetings with other schools from the greater Phoenix area. These school teams will pursue their shared interest by helping each other, sharing information and building relationships to enable them to learn from one another.
The team from GAA will consist of the School Leader, classroom teachers from 3rd - 6th grade, a student and a community member. “We are so excited for this opportunity to gain more knowledge and bring ideas into our classrooms that will engage our students in exciting, hands-on Science and Math lessons and activities,” said Mrs. Arnold, School Leader. According the the STEM School Community of Practice’s website, “The need and interest in STEM education continues to increase across Arizona. The AZSTEM School Community of Practice is an initiative that empowers practitioners to learn from one another in a social structure based on their learning goals. Arizona SciTech along with the Intel, Maricopa Education Service Agency and the Arizona Science Center are leading the initiative as part of a STEM ecosystem within the STEM Funders Network.”
