Gilbert Arts Academy Dress Code
The following dress code is designed to help foster a positive learning environment and ensure safety. Students and parents will be notified in advance if the dress code will be altered for a special event. Students who are out of dress code may not be permitted to attend class & parents will be notified to bring a change of clothing. Office staff may have students change if appropriate size is available. All clothing must be clean and in good repair (no holes or frays). The uniform policy applies to KRP-8th grades.

Dress Down Days/Passes
$1 Dress down days are held a few months of the year as a fundraiser. Notifications will go out.
Dress down passes are earned by meeting different AR goals. Dress down passes may not be used on $1 dress down days.
Students must turn pass/$1 in to their teacher to participate. If they don’t have their pass/$1 they will be sent to the office to call home.

The following are always a rule. Whether Uniform, Friday or Dress down day:
- Undergarments may not be visible or show through tops or bottoms.
- Shorts, skirts, dresses may not be shorter than 4” above the knee .
- Bottoms must be worn on or above the hips.
- Leggings are not to be worn as pants.
- Shoes must be fully enclosed. Tennis-shoes are preferred. Tennis shoes must be worn on PE days.
- Jelly shoes, Crocs, Heelies, shoes or boots with heels over 1 inch, flip-flops, sandals and platform shoes are not permitted.
- No unnatural hair color or extreme hairstyles (ie: mohawks, spikes, blue, purple, pink, etc.).
- Hair accessories/headbands may not have embellishments such as animal ears, pom poms, spikes, large bows etc.
- No distracting accessories (ie: fake nails, fake glasses, etc.)
- No tattoos, henna, drawings etc. on skin.
- No bandanas, large chains or extreme jewelry. No dangle or hoop earrings.
- Make up may be worn in moderation.
Monday-Thursday Uniform
Tops:
- Polo-style shirts/dresses (long or short sleeved) in red, black or light grey with GAA logo or no logo. (full khaki dresses are not uniform)
- Undershirts may be worn but must be red, black, light grey or white. Solid.
- Solid black or khaki uniform-style bottoms only (no denim, athletic, sweat, jersey, legging, jegging, spandex materials)
- Docker or Chino styles.
- Must be free of embellishments, holes, and tears.
- Long pants, shorts, skirts, jumpers, skorts are all acceptable
- Leggings & tights are only permitted under skirts, jumpers, etc and must be black, red or grey.
- Belts should be free of embellishments, including buckles
- Socks must be solid white, black, red or grey. Socks must match.
- Sweatshirts or sweaters in solid red, black or grey with no logos may be worn indoors.
- School-sponsored sweatshirts may be worn indoors.
- Hats, sunglasses and hoods on outerwear may only be worn outdoors.
- Jackets and coats may only be worn outdoors with no restrictions on color.
- Students must wear regular uniform clothing under sweaters and jackets, etc.
- In warm weather, outerwear is not allowed to be worn outdoors.
Friday Attire
Shirts:
- Any GAA issued T-shirt (Mustang Club, PTO, House, etc.) or uniform polo.
- Shorts, pants or skirts. No overalls.
- Solid blue.
- No embellishments (lace, graphics, patches, bleach etc.).
- Must not be ripped or frayed and must be worn at the waist area.
- Jeggings are not permitted.

- Leggings may not be worn as pants.
- Tank tops and shirts with inappropriate graphics are not allowed.
- Above rules apply for short/skirt length, shoes, jewelry & hair.
- No holes or frays.
