What is the cost of tuition?
Gilbert Arts Academy is a public charter school for grades K-6 and there is no cost for tuition in those grades. The Four-Year-Old Kindergarten Readiness Program is not funded by the State of Arizona and is a private pay program.
Are your teachers certified?
All our teachers are certified by the state of Arizona, possess a minimum of a bachelor's degree (several hold master's degrees) and are designated Highly Qualified by the federal guidelines of the No Child Left Behind Act.
What is your ranking with the State of Arizona?
AZ Learns has designated Gilbert Arts Academy as an 'Excelling' School for the past two years.
Are you an accredited school?
Yes! Gilbert Arts Academy received it's accreditation from AdvancEd, that is nationally recognized.
Do you offer tutoring outside of school hours?
Yes we do. Teachers offer tutoring before or after school.
Are you a uniformed school?
Yes our students wear a 'casual' uniform. Pants, shorts or skirts are black, navy or beige and shirts are solid color polo shirts.
Is there a library at Gilbert Arts Academy?
Yes our PTO worked very hard to develop and organize our brand new library which was officially opened by the Mayor of Gilbert in October.
Do the students use computers at school?
Gilbert Arts Academy has a fully equipped computer lab and computers in the classrooms.
Do you have a pre-school on your campus?
We have a premier Kindergarten Readiness Program for four-year-olds, preparing them for a wonderful kindergarten experience.
Is your school strictly academics?
While we are proud of our strong academic core, we also integrate music, art and physical education into the program to ensure we expose our students to culture, healthy living and deliver a well-rounded education.
Do you provide after-school care at the school?
Aftercare is provided every school day until 6:00 p.m. for a nominal fee.
Do you offer any extra-curricula activities?
Our Mustang Club offers a variety of activities after school including arts and crafts, science, sports, dance, karate, fencing and more.
Do your students take an active role in the community?
Yes indeed! Through community service, students this year have donated over $1,300 to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, $1,500 to the American Heart Association, 1,000 packages of food to the local food bank, 600 pairs of socks to One Small Step, 56 new toys and games to Phoenix Children's Hospital for Christmas and recycled over 10,000 pouches of Capri Sun drinks.
Does Gilbert Arts Academy have a school lunch program?
Our school participates in the National School Lunch Program and hot meals are catered in for students who order from the lunch menu.
How can parents get involved in their child's education?
Gilbert Arts Academy has an active Parent Teacher Organization that regularly contribute and participate in many school projects and needs. All parents are encouraged to join the PTO. Parents who wish to volunteer at the school on a regular basis and/or classroom level are encouraged to contact Mrs. Allen or Mrs. Semerdjian for additional information.
