Jump Rope for Heart
Thursday, January 28, 2010 all students at Gilbert Arts Academy participated in jump rope exercises to raise awareness for the American Heart Association''s Jump Rope for Heart program. By participating in this community service program children learn how to take care of their hearts through physical exercise and nutrition. They also learned about cardiovascular disease and how it affects children. Students jumped rope for 45 minutes. Those who knew of a friend or family with a heart condition, jumped for them while other students chose to jump for Mr. Eddy, a dear friend of the school who is currently in a hospital in Tucson awaiting a heart transplant.
